VCD 9: Packaging Design Beverage Company: San Cristóbal - Fall 2021 San Cristóbal is hypothetical brand solution to creating an upset in the alcohol industry for rum. In the ever growing business of that is the hard drinks, rum only occupies 1 spot in the top 18 preferred drinks among young adults. This is because young adults are often looking for cheap, good tasting, and fun and approachable alcoholic beverage options. Being that most rum's are often expensive and refined, that has resulted in a proportionately smaller market share. San Cristóbal aims to disrupt that position. San Cristóbal is a hypothetical rum cocktail brewery based in Nicaragua. With Nicaragua being known as the land of mountains, volcanoes, and beautiful vistas, the illustration pays homage to Nicaraguan culture. It draws from the imagery of Nicaraguan geometry pottery and Nicaraguan landscape muralism and infusing it with a modern flare of colors and vector illustration. An identity system is built via its expansive use of color as well as the iconography of different ingredients.
